Kedarnath, 7th May 2022: The doors of Baba Kedarnath, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, have been opened for the devotees. Like every time, this time also the doors of Kedarnath were opened with rituals and chanting.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also reached the door of Bholenath with his wife and offered prayers.
The Kedarnath Dham Yatra has started after two years due to the coronavirus epidemic. This time the Kedarnath Yatra started, and then the uncontrolled crowd of devotees broke all the records.
For the convenience of the passengers and prevention of corona, more people had reached Kedarnath Dham than the prescribed limit. This number is being told as more than 25,000. Whereas in the government instructions, only 12,000 pilgrims are allowed to visit Kedarnath Dham every day.
There was an influx of devotees from Gaurikund to the temple premises. Even the Aastha Path built in the redevelopment of Kedarpuri was packed with crowds. The situation here became uncontrollable when after the opening of the doors, there was panic among the devotees due to the non-availability of entry and exit gates on the temple premises.
The crowd of passengers was increasing so much that the crowd started getting uncontrollable. To control the crowd, the Director-General of Uttarakhand Police, Ashok Kumar himself had to take the lead at the entrance of the temple.
According to sources, there were no adequate arrangements from the administration to control the crowd of passengers. The situation was so bad that a stampede and lathi charges arose. While the Kedarnath Yatra started after two years, there was enthusiasm among the local people and devotees, but due to administrative flaws, the days ahead can be quite challenging.
The Uttarakhand government had already limited the number of pilgrims visiting the Char Dham. According to the government instructions, only 15,000 devotees will be able to visit Baba Badrinath every day. The number of devotees for Kedarnath Dham has been fixed at 12,000 per day. At the same time, only 7,000 devotees will be able to visit Gangotri Dham every day. Whereas only 4,000 devotees will be allowed daily to visit Yamunotri Dham.
