New Delhi, 11th November 2022: The Consulate General of Russia in Chennai, Oleg Avdeev, said that Indian students from Ukraine can complete their studies in Russia. He has invited those students to complete their education here. Speaking to the media, Oleg said that Indian students who left Ukraine because of the war could continue their education in Russia.
This is a good news for Indian students who have returned home after leaving their medical studies due to the Russo-Ukraine war.
He said that the medical curriculum in Ukraine and Russia is almost the same. They also know the language of the people. He said that most of the people in Ukraine speak Russian.
On 23 October, the Indian Embassy in Kyiv issued an advisory asking Indian nationals currently residing in the war-torn country to leave Ukraine at the earliest.
Thousands of Indians were trapped in Ukraine after the Russian invasion. Information was also shared on the five available border crossing options for Indian nationals. The Indian embassy in Ukraine issued a statement on October 20 asking Indian nationals not to travel to Ukraine, citing growing hostility towards the Eastern European country by Russia.
After the Russian invasion in February, thousands of Indians were trapped in Ukraine. After the initiative of the government, the students were evacuated.
