Lucknow, October 7, 2020: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday has given another 10 days to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) elected to investigate the incident of Hathras to submit its report. Chief Secretary Home Awanish Kumar Awasthi said that the investigation of Hathras case has not been completed yet. On the orders of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the SIT has been given extra time of 10 days to submit its report.

The SIT constituted under the chairmanship of Home Secretary Bhagwan Swaroop for the Hathras incident was scheduled to submit its investigation report to the government on Wednesday. SIT has recorded statements of about 100 people, including policemen. The negligence of several other policemen has also come to light. The SIT has conducted a series of investigations at several points, including meeting the woman’s family in Hathras. The government has also recommended a CBI inquiry into the Hathras incident.

CM Yogi had said that no convict will be spared. The culprits will be punished to the strictest by prosecuting in the fast track court. The government has also included two officers of the same caste in the SIT constituted to investigate the incident with the Scheduled Caste woman. 2004 batch IPS officer Chandra Prakash-II and 2018 batch IPS officer Poonam belong to the same caste as that of the victim.
