Kozhikode, 26th December 2022: A 19-year-old girl was taken into custody outside Kozhikode airport in Kerala after she was found carrying gold worth Rs one crore in her innerwear. Acting on a tip-off, Malappuram Superintendent of Police (SP) Suchith Das and her team took the girl into custody.
She had successfully evaded the customs checking officials at the airport late on Sunday night. Later, on examination of the girl’s body, it was found that about 1,884 grams of gold were hidden in three packets in her innerwear.
The cost of this gold is estimated to be around Rs one crore. The girl’s name is Shahla, and she is from Kasaragod. She had carried the gold from Dubai and reached Kozhikode International Airport. After the customs check, the girl was taken into custody by the police outside the airport.
Initially, the accused girl resisted the interrogation and claimed she was not a careerist and should be let off. But the police, acting on a tip-off, were not ready to release her. After thoroughly checking her entire belongings, the police were empty-handed.
Thereafter, the girl’s body was examined when the gold was found. The police are now interrogating her and trying to find the culprit who lured the girl to smuggle gold.
