Villagers of Kashipur had an encounter with the UP Police who came to Uttarakhand in search of the prize crook. A woman also died in the firing. The wife of Jaspur’s eldest block chief was shot dead in firing during the action of the police who came to raid in plain uniform in Bharatpur village of Kunda police station area late in the evening.
During the encounter, 5 policemen including Thakurdwara Kotwal of UP were injured. Angry villagers blocked the four lanes in front of the Kunda police station. Due to this vehicles were blocked on both sides. Heavy police force reached the spot on the information of the jam. On Wednesday evening, 10 to 12 people in plain uniform on two vehicles with pistols in their hands came to the house of senior block chief Gurtaj Bhullar, a resident of Bharatpur village of Kunda police station in search of prize Zafar of UP.
When he took information from the people who came with pistols in plain uniforms, they called themselves the SOG team of UP. The team is said to come in search of a wanted dumper driver. During this, there was an altercation between the senior block chief and the team. During this, when the matter escalated, firing took place on the spot. It is alleged that Gurpreet Kaur, wife of the senior block chief, was seriously injured in the firing of the SOG team, she was taken to a hospital on Moradabad Road for treatment where doctors declared her brought dead. The villagers got angry at the death and clashed with the team.
The villagers started a scuffle with the team by firing. It is alleged that during the firing, two policemen were injured due to bullet injuries. While three policemen including Thakurdwara Kotwal were also injured when the villagers beat them up. Villagers blocked the four lanes in front of the Kunda police station.
The villagers demanded the arrest of all the accused of the SOG team in the case. At the same time, the police team has also accused the villagers that two policemen were injured in their firing. At the same time, after the incident, DIG Shalabh Mathur and SSP Hemant Kutiyal also reached Thakurdwara. The team raided on the information that the prize dumper driver of UP was hiding in Kunda police station. Five jawans were also injured in the firing during the raid.
