New Delhi, 2nd August 2022: Prahlad Modi, Vice President of All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation (AIFPSDF) and brother of PM Narendra Modi, protested at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday for the demands of his organization. Many other members of the organization were also seen raising slogans with posters in their hands.

AIFPSDF President, Biswambhar Basu, has said that he will give a memorandum to the Prime Minister regarding his nine-point demands and will also meet Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, on Wednesday.

AIFPSDF demanded compensation in case of loss of rice, wheat, sugar, edible oil, and pulses at the Fair Price Shop. According to Basu, the demand extends to cooking oil, pulses, and LPG gas whose supply they believe should be from the Fair Price Shop itself. The organisation also demanded the implementation of the ‘West Bengal Ration Model’ of free ration distribution across the country. Along with this, there is a demand to pay outstanding margins of all the states soon. Fair price dealers in rural areas should also get the right to directly purchase rice and wheat. TMC MP Saugata Roy had also raised his demands in Parliament.

According to Prahlad Modi, the requests of ration dealers are not being accepted, demanding the central government to provide relief and redress their financial problems. He says that the commission these dealers gain is limited and the government is not paying heed to them. He said the organization would hold a national executive meeting on Wednesday, after which the next course of action would be decided.
