New Delhi, March 19, 2021: Amid the ongoing tussle between the Center and the Delhi government over the powers of governance in Delhi, the  Modi government today gave a big blow to Arvind Kejriwal’s “Chief Minister Ghar-Ghar Ration”. The scheme “Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana” prohibits doorstep delivery of rations starting on 25 March.

The Central Government has written a letter to the Food Supply Secretary of the Delhi Government with urges to not initiate the scheme. After this move of the Center, the AAP has asked why the Modi government is against abolishing ration pirates.

This information has been provided by a statement released on Friday by the Delhi government. According to the statement, the central government has banned the doorstep delivery scheme of ration to be started on 25 March in Delhi. The Center has said that it provides ration to the states under the National Food Security Act, so there should be no change in it.

According to the information, the Delhi government had last week announced to start doorstep delivery of ration in the capital from 25th March. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was to inaugurate the “Mukhyamantri Ghar-Ghar Ration Yojana” with ration delivery to 100 households in the Seemapuri circle and the scheme was to start from April 1 in the rest of the other areas. The AAP government claims that once the doorstep delivery system of the ration is introduced, it will help to stop the black marketing of ration in the capital and put an end to the ration mafia.

This scheme was to start much earlier, but the scheme was delayed due to the lack of biometric machines at ration shops. However, an action plan had already been issued by the government regarding the scheme to provide ration to the households.

It is worth mentioning that under the Chief Minister’s door-to-door ration scheme, there was a plan to provide ration to the homes of about 17 lakh people in all the 70 assemblies of Delhi. In this, those who want to get ration from the shops can continue it.
