Punjab, 2nd December 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has played a big bet in Punjab. The BJP has appointed former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and former MP Sunil Jakhar as members of the National Executive. At the same time, Jaiveer Shergill has been appointed as the national spokesperson.
Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill had resigned from the post of the national spokesperson of the Congress party. In his resignation letter sent to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Shergill also raised many questions. He wrote in his resignation that he was sorry to say that the decision-making is no longer in the interest of the public and the country, but is influenced by the selfish interests of those who indulge in sycophancy and constantly ignore the ground reality.
Shergill wrote in the resignation letter that the primary reason is that the ideology and vision of the current decision-makers of the Indian National Congress are no longer in sync with the youth and the aspirations of modern India. “It pains me to say that decision-making is no longer in the interest of the public and the country. I cannot accept it morally,” he wrote.
39-year-old Jaiveer Shergill is a lawyer by profession in the Supreme Court of India, and as a spokesperson of the Congress, he has been presenting the party’s side in debates on TV channels. He is one of the youngest spokespersons of the Punjab Congress Committee and has also been the youngest person to be appointed as the Co-Chairman of the Congress Legal Cell for Punjab. He has also served as the Young India Representative for the International Bar Association for two years – 2008-09.
Jaiveer Shergill was born in Jalandhar, Punjab. His father is Rajeshwar Singh Shergill, a lawyer specializing in cases related to money laundering. Jaiveer did his schooling at St. Joseph’s Boys School and Apeejay School, Jalandhar. He graduated in Law from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences in 2006. Jaiveer Shergill has also been the president of the student union.
