Nalanda, 1 April 2021: On talking to a lover, the stepfather strangled the daughter to death. After this, the body was thrown into the Punpun River. The incident took place on Sunday last near the Kali Sthan temple of Ekangarasarai in Nalanda.

Native police on Wednesday recovered the physique of a 15-year-old teenager from the Punpun River at the entrance of Vikrampur village. Santoshi Thakur, the stepfather of the corpse used to beat her mom Manju and the teenager Madhu.

Manoj Singh said that the police arrested the accused father. However, He did not accept the murder in police interrogation. Accused says that he forbade Madhu from talking to the boy, and beat her up after which, Madhu committed suicide. However, the police believe that the accused is making false statements to protect him. The police are questioning Santoshi.

The family of the deceased’s maternal grandfather reached Fatuha as soon as he got the news of her death. Everyone called the stepfather Santoshi on the pretext. After this, he was handed over to Fatuha police. According to the villagers, about 12 years ago, After Anand Thakur’s death, the deceased’s mother Manju Devi married Santoshi Thakur.

Manju had two sons and a daughter, Madhu, from her first husband. Santoshi Thakur was divorced from his wife and lived with Manju. Santoshi often brutally beat his wife and her children.

Madhu had also attempted suicide twice in the past due to the stepfather’s assault. But she was rescued by her mother or the other family member. An FIR is being lodged in the police station on the statement of Madhu’s elder brother Ajit.
