Patna, 18 April 2021: Remdesivir drug for the treatment of Coronavirus Disease (COVID19) positive patients in Bihar will now be supplied through five companies instead of two.

Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Pratyay Amrit said that instructions have been given by the Health Department to the Bihar Medical Infrastructure Development Company Limited (BMICL) for the purchase of the Remdesivir drug.

He said that Remdesivir injections were being supplied by Hetro and Cipla companies in the state at present. But now it will be bought from Cadila, Malson and Dr Reddy also. For this, BMICL has been instructed to negotiate with the respective companies and make purchases.

According to information, one thousand Remdesivir medicines have been made available to hospitals.

Pratyay Amrit, Principal Secretary of the Health Department, said that it is expected to ensure adequate availability of Remdesivir injections in the next two days.
