Patna, January 16, 2021: In Bihar, people of the Kinner or The transgender community will now chase criminals. With the big decision of the Nitish Kumar government of the state, the way for the transgender’s recruitment in the police force is cleared. They will be appointed directly on the posts of constables and sub-inspectors. After the approval of the state government, the Home Department has issued a resolution letter on Friday.

One Post Out of 500 Posts Reserved For Transgender Community

The Superintendent of Police (SP) will have the right to appoint candidates for the constable cadre. Whereas, the authority for appointment to the Sub Inspector (SI) will be with the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) level. One post for every 500 advertised posts in the Police and Sub Inspector cadre will be reserved for the community. A separate advertisement for this post will also be published. If the position of selected candidates falls short in the order of appointment to the posts reserved, the remaining vacancies will be filled from the general candidates of the same original advertisement.

Appointment Criteria Will Be Same As Women Candidates

The educational qualification for direct appointment of eunuchs will be as per the Police Officer of Bihar Police 1978 and the Inspector Cadre of Police. The physical criteria for transgender candidates and the criteria for the physical efficiency test will be the same as the female candidates of the respective cadre. The minimum age for the candidates will be as per the advertisement and the relaxation in the maximum age limit will be the same as for the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe quota.

Only Native Of Bihar Eligible – Will Be Posted In District Police

The candidate has to give a certificate of being a native of Bihar state. Apart from this, a certificate of being transgender issued from the competent authority prescribed by the State Government will also have to be produced. The process of publication and selection of advertisement for appointment will be completed by the Central Selection Board of Constable for the constable category and Bihar Police Subordinate Service Commission for Inspector. After their appointment, they will be posted to the District Police Force.

Special Battalion Of Eunuchs Will Not Be Formed

The Home Department clarified that a special battalion could not be created for eunuchs. The organizational structure of a special battalion will require at least 1000 sanctioned forces. It is difficult to get such a number of qualified candidates from the transgender community, hence it has been decided to appoint them directly to Bihar Police.

39 People In Every One Lakh People Of The State

According to the 2011 census, the total population of the state was 10.41 crore, out of which the population of the transgenders was 40,827. Thus the representation of this class in the state’s population is 39 in every one lakh. Generally, the system of reservation is similar to the representation of the population. The current sanctioned force in the Bihar Police is 1,30,243, according to which at least 51 posts should have representation from the transgender community. These may include 41 constables and 10 sub-inspector posts.
