Siliguri, 23rd March 2023: The second G20 Tourism Working Group (TWG) summit will take place in West Bengal’s Siliguri and Darjeeling from April 1 to April 3, 2023, with approximately 60 international delegates attending from over 29 nations.
The first Tourism Working Group Meeting took place from February 7 to February 9, 2023, at The Rann of Kutch in Gujarat.
As per Secretary of Tourism Arvind Singh, this upcoming meeting will be about the more in-depth and comprehensive components of the five priorities of the Tourism Working Group.
He said, “Around 60 foreign participants from over 29 countries will attend the summit.”
All of the G20 Members, Invitee Countries, and International Organizations supported the five goals of the India Tourism Working Group, which are Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, Tourism MSMEs, and Destination Management.
All participants will go on a technical trip to Darjeeling during the second TWG Meeting. The trip will also cover the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR), a UNESCO World Heritage Site also known as the “Toy Train Ride.”
The attendees will take part in a tea-tasting and moonlight tea leaf-plucking event. They will also go to Raj Bhawan, the governor of West Bengal’s summer home.
From April 3 to April 5, 2023, a public exhibition will be held in Mall Road, Darjeeling, to raise awareness of India’s G20 Presidency and to promote sustainable practices in adventure tourism.
A side event on “Adventure tourism as a medium for achieving Sustainable Development Goals” is being hosted by the Indian Ministry of Tourism.
