Pune, November 18, 2020: After calling Rahul Gandhi an immature politician, former US President Barack Obama has expressed his opinion on the internal affairs of Congress in his book. He has written in his book that Sonia Gandhi made Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister because she did not feel any danger from Manmohan Singh. The former President said that Sonia had given a lot of thought to make Manmohan the Prime Minister.

In ‘A Promised Land’, Obama writes that Manmohan Singh’s accession to the post of Prime Minister is sometimes seen as a symbol of India’s victory over ethnic division, but this is not true. Everyone knows the real story behind Manmohan becoming the Prime Minister. He was not the party’s prime ministerial candidate. Obama said that the post was given to him by the then Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Many political critics also believe that she chose the elderly Sikh because he had no national political base and was not a threat to her 47-year-old son Rahul.

Sonia was listening more than speaking

The former President, who came to India in 2010, has also mentioned in his book a dinner held at the residence of former PM Manmohan Singh. Both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were included in the party. Obama writes, “Sonia Gandhi was listening more than speaking”. Also in the conversation, she used to turn the discussion towards her son.

The story of modern India can be considered successful in many ways

In the book, Obama also mentioned meeting and having an informal conversation with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Obama wrote that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the chief architect of the radical change in India’s economy and he is the true symbol of this progress story.

Pak army had relations with al-Qaeda: Obama

Former US President Barack Obama has said that he refused to involve Pakistan in a campaign to raid bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad. The reason behind this was that some people in the Pakistani army, especially its intelligence service, had relations with the Taliban and possibly Al Qaeda and used them many times against Afghanistan and India. He also said that this excessive intelligence operation was opposed by the then Defence Minister Robert Gates and former Vice President and current elected President Joe Biden. In his book, Obama has given information about the death of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad during his tenure as President.
