New Delhi, 20 June, 2023: Khalistan Tiger Force Chief, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Canada’s Surrery. Nijjar was one of India’s most wanted terrorists carrying a reward of 10 Lakh Rupees.
Nijjar was shot dead outside a Guru Nanak Sikh Gurudwara in Surrey on Monday, by two unidentified assailants. He was found dead inside a car with bullet wounds in the car parking of the Gurudwara.
Nijjar was designated a ‘terrorist’ by India under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in July 2020 and his property in the country was attached by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in September 2020. He was accused of participating in different acts of violence and subversive activity.
The shooting took place in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. The incident’s details are sketchy, and the attackers’ identities have yet to be determined. Canadian law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the situation.
His killing has triggered an instant protest by members of his community.
Nijjar, 42, a native of Jalandhar (Punjab), has had a lengthy relationship with Khalistan militancy since moving to Canada in 1995.
