New Delhi, 15 March 2022: Congress President Sonia Gandhi admitted in the party working committee meeting on Sunday that she had ignored the complaints received against Captain Amarinder Singh. It was raised in the meeting that Captain Amarinder Singh should have been removed earlier, to which Sonia Gandhi said that I was protecting the Captain, while there were constant complaints against him. Sources say that Sonia Gandhi said this when Ajay Maken, chairman of the Congress Screening Committee, said that it would have been better if Captain Amarinder Singh was removed a little earlier.

Ajay Maken said that by the time Captain Amarinder Singh was removed in September 2021, the anti-incumbency against the Congress government had increased significantly. He was talking about the party’s crushing defeat in the state. During this, the leaders praised Rahul Gandhi on one hand and said that by making Charanjit Singh Channi the CM, he created an asset for the Congress in Punjab and the whole country. But the top leaders of the state left no stone unturned to pull his leg. The party has also considered this as one of the reasons for the defeat.

According to Ajay Maken – Sidhu used to pull his leg on Channi’s decisions

Ajay Maken also referred to the tension between Sidhu and Channi. He said that when Channi had cut electricity rates in the state, state president Navjot Singh Sidhu said that from where the money would come for this. Apart from this, when action was taken on the issue of drugs, the party leaders said that this case would not survive in the court. During this, Maken made another attack on Sidhu, saying, ‘When Rahul Gandhi supported Channi, a leader coming from an ordinary family and declared him the CM face, Sidhu’s family weakened the party’s prospects by calling him rich. ‘

The leader said – the public was angry with the delay in removing the captain

In this meeting, Congress leaders said that nothing was done by the party’s government till September 2021, about which many promises were made in 2017. Raising issues like sacrilege and drugs, the leaders said that nothing had happened on them during the era of Captain Sarkar. This is the reason why Captain Amarinder Singh was defeated by a huge margin in Patiala. The Congress Working Committee said, “Captain Amarinder Singh was soft on the Akali leaders and both suffered losses in the elections. People were angry with the Congress as to why it took so long to remove Captain Amarinder Singh.
