Patna, 10th May 2021: The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has nabbed four youths for allegedly selling oxygen cylinder with a regulator for Rs 1.1 lakh.

The arrested persons have been identified as Harsh Raj (25), Gauri Shankar (19), both residents of Rajiv Nagar in Patna, Ravi Kumar (19) of Gokul Path Patel Nagar and Rahul Kumar (21) of Shastri Nagar, Patna.

An NRI who stays in the USA had tipped off ADG (EOU) Nayyar Hasnain Khan five days ago through a WhatsApp message.

Khan said, “The NRI mentioned that his relatives were Covid positive patients and they were in need of Oxygen cylinder at home. Harsh Raj sold one cylinder of Oxygen for Rs 1.1 lakh. The money was electronically deposited in his account.”

The EOU team headed by DSP Bhaskar Ranjan and DSP Rajneesh Kumar nabbed the fraudster in the Rajeev Nagar Police Station area on Monday after laying a successful trap.

“House search is being done by the EOU team. Harsh Raj is also being interrogated. His bank statement shows that approx Rs nine lakhs were deposited in his account within six days. An FIR is being registered at Rajiv Nagar Police Station Patna,” said Khan.

Till now a total of four arrests have been made so far in this case. EOU raids are still going on at two places in this matter. Further investigation is going on, police said.
