New Delhi 27th May 2021: The second wave of coronavirus has proved to be very dangerous for India and it can be gauged from the daily death count figures of deaths. The vaccine seems to be the only solution among all this. But if people are avoiding getting vaccinated due to lack of awareness, then vaccines are being given with a warning. Something similar happened in Chhattisgarh. In one of the districts, an officer of the tribal welfare department issued an order, asking his staff members to get the COVID-19 vaccine. With a strange warning.

‘No Vaccine, No Salary’

Assistant Commissioner KS Masram in the Gorella-Pendra-Marwahi district asked his staff to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Also, if they do not do so, their next month’s salary will be withheld. In the order issued, officers and employees working in the offices, ashrams (residential schools), and hostels run by the tribal welfare department in the district have been asked to get vaccinated and submit vaccination cards to their office. If they do not show the vaccination card, then their next month’s salary will be stopped.

The copy of the order went viral, people said – this is dictatorial

Meanwhile, a copy of the order issued by the officer on 21 May went viral on social media. Where some people expressed their displeasure by calling it a dictatorship. At the same time, many people asked how to get a vaccine if slots are not available. Earlier, on May 20, Masram had also issued Covid-19 vaccination orders for the families of all officers and employees working in the department.

‘95% of the staff has been vaccinated’

When contacted, Masram told PTI on Wednesday night that the motive behind this order is to ensure 100% vaccination of the officers and employees of the department in the fight against Covid-19. He claimed that 95 percent of the department’s staff members took vaccine shots after the order was issued. Although he said that we are not going to stop any salary, our intention was just to get the employees vaccinated.
