Tamil Nadu, 8th December 2022: Cyclone Mandous, which originated from the Bay of Bengal, is moving towards Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. Heavy rain, lightning and strong wind are expected in these states due to the storm. Given the apprehension of danger, NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), the Navy and other organizations have been asked to be prepared.
According to news agency ANI, while giving information about the preparedness regarding Cyclone Mandous, NDRF Arakkonam, 4th Battalion Sub-Inspector and Commander Sandeep Kumar said that their team is ready with all kinds of equipment. The team members are trained in their fields. “Whenever we get a call for help, we will immediately reach the spot,” he said.
On December 8 and 9, heavy rains and strong winds are expected in all the coastal areas, including Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department has issued Red Alert in 13 districts for December 8 and Orange Alert in 12 districts for December 9 in Tamil Nadu. Cabinet Secretary of the National Crisis Management Committee, Rajeev Gauba, after reviewing the preparations, said, “We endeavour to minimize the loss of life and property due to the cyclone.” The name Mandous has been given by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
