Delhi, October 10, 2020: In a shocking incident, a student of Delhi University (DU) in the Adarsh Nagar area was beaten to death by five people, including three minors. The police have nabbed all the accused.
Initial investigations have revealed that the deceased man used to talk to a girl living in Jahangirpuri. Angered by this, the girl’s brothers brutally beat the young man. It is being told that even before the incident, the girl’s brothers had threatened to kill the young man. At present, the police have started investigating the case. The post-mortem of the dead body is completed.
The deceased identified as Rahul Rajput (19) who lived in Moolchand Colony in Adarsh Nagar area was a student of BA second year at Delhi University’s School of Open Learning (SOL). He also taught English to students at a coaching centre where the girl was came to study. Rahul is survived by his father Sanjay, mother Renuka and younger sister Muskan.
The Incident
On Wednesday night, Rahul’s cousin Golu got a call from an unknown number. The caller said that he wanted to enrol his child in the tuition/coaching centre and asked to send Rahul out of the house. As communicated over the phone to Golu’s, Rahul went out on the street. As soon as he came out of the house, the accused took Rahul near a muddy drain with an excuse.
Rahul’s uncle Dharampal told that a person called him and told him that five people were beating his nephew Rahul near the muddy drain. Dharampal quickly ran to the spot and rescued Rahul. He was then immediately taken to a local doctor for treatment and then brought home. Late in the night, Rahul’s health deteriorated when he was admitted to the nearby Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Rahul’s family filed a complaint at the police station. The police arrested Muhammad Raj and Muhammad Afroz and three minors who had allegedly beaten an innocent Rahul to death.
