Patna, 18 March 2021: The Bihar government has announced to promote students from first to eighth grade in all schools of the state in the next class given recurring cases of corona epidemic and regular educational activities that have been disrupted. The state government’s education department issued the notice on Tuesday. More than one crore sixty lakh students of classes 1 to 8 in the state schools will be admitted to the next class without giving the examination.

According to the notice, the state government has decided to relax the detention Policy for  5th to 8th students under Rule 10 of the Right to Information Act 2019 for 2020-21. According to the Act, the no-detention policy has been implemented for the students of classes 1 to 4.Since March last year, students are facing difficulty in taking examinations given the closure of schools. Due to the unusual circumstances, the government has promoted students up to 8th class without examination in the next class.

The annual examinations for the year 2019-20 were also not conducted due to the lockdown imposed to prevent the corona epidemic. Last year, the state government announced promoting students from first to eighth grade without taking exams.
