Patna, February 19, 2021: The Governing Body of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna, has removed three doctors including a head of the department (HoD) without a medical degree.

The body has found that all three were wrongly appointed. All three have an MSc degree. Questions are also being raised about their PhD degree.

All three were appointed in AIIMS in 2013. Dr Ajit Saxena, Head, Department of Pathology Medicine, Dr Alok Ranjan, Assistant Professor, Community Medicine Department, and Dr Sushmita Das, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology.

In the Governing Body meeting, the decision to remove all three was given with immediate effect. The meeting of the governing body was chaired by Dr NK Arora. Dr Sushmita Das has also been recently promoted by AIIMS management.

Chairman, Dr NK Arora has constituted a selection committee for the appointment of vacant faculty and second-grade employees in AIIMS. The committee will soon start the appointment process. In light of the 305 posts created in AIIMS, so far only 160 posts have been appointed. Doctors are to be appointed on the remaining posts.
