Dumka, 31st August 2022: When Ankita was alive, on the basis of her statement, section 307 of attempt to murder was imposed. But after her death, it was converted into a murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

The FIR lodged after the murder of Ankita in Dumka, Jharkhand has been rectified. After rectifying this FIR, Ankita’s age has been reduced to 15 years and 9 months. Earlier, Ankita’s age was recorded as 19 years. After correcting the age of Ankita, now a case has also been registered against the accused Shahrukh under the POCSO Act. 

In the Ankita murder case, the age of the victim was recorded as 19 years. There was a lot of controversy about it but after this, on Tuesday, the police of Dumka Nagar police station tried to put an end to this dispute by improving Ankita’s age. According to authorized police sources, Ankita’s date of birth is 26 November 2006 in her certificate. On this basis, his age has now been corrected.

In this case, along with Section 302, 34 and 120B of the IPC, the case will be run under Section 12 of the POCSO Act.

The Bench of Magistrate of Child Welfare Committee, Dumka, taking suo motu cognizance in the matter, has recommended to the SP to add sections of POCSO Act to the hair. District Child Protection Officer Prakash Chandra had gone to Ankita’s house where he had inquired about the documents related to the age certificate of the girl. In which the girl was found to be a minor.
