New Delhi, 22nd April 2021: The central government has enlisted the help of the Air Force for the quick supply of oxygen and medicines in Delhi-NCR. The Air Force is also working to bring doctors, nurses, and other health workers.

Sources said that in view of the ever-increasing cases of corona in Delhi and the National Capital Region, the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is setting up a hospital for corona patients in Delhi.

For this, doctors and health workers are being brought from cities like Kochi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The Air Force has also brought DRDO oxygen containers from Bangalore for this hospital.

It is noteworthy that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday directed all defence establishments to establish maximum Corona hospitals while exercising their rights. He had also asked for the help of retired personnel in this work. The defence minister also held a high-level review meeting to discuss the use of defence installations in dealing with the corona.

Meanwhile, the DRDO said that it has established a 250-bed hospital in Delhi. If needed, its capacity can be increased to 500 beds and then to 1,000 beds. Rajnath Singh had earlier directed the DRDO to set up hospitals in Lucknow, Patna, Varanasi, and Ahmedabad.

Rajnath Singh said that ESIC Hospital in Patna has been converted into Corona Hospital. Treatment of serious patients has been started here with 500 beds arranged. He said that the work of setting up a hospital of 450 beds in Lucknow, 750 beds in Varanasi, and 900 beds in Ahmedabad are going on a war footing. There has been a discussion on the appointment of retired military doctors and nursing staff to work in these hospitals.
