Mangaluru, 11th January 2023: 10 people, including a foreign national of Indian origin, doctors, MBBS, and dental students, have been arrested for smoking and selling ganja (marijuana). A police officer gave this information on Wednesday.
According to the information received, four women are also included in the 10 people arrested by the police on the charges of smoking and selling marijuana. Police said two doctors and seven medical and dental students from three colleges, belonging to different states, are involved.
According to police, they arrested Indian-origin foreign national Neel Kishorilal Ramji Shaw (38) last week for allegedly selling ganja at his flat. He has been living in Mangaluru for 15 years and is a fourth-year student in a dental college. During police interrogation, Shaw gave information about other medical and dental college students and doctors involved in the illegal business of smoking and selling ganja.
Police seized two kg of ganja, two mobile phones, a toy pistol, a dagger, Rs 7,000 in cash, a digital scale and other electronic gadgets from Neel. Apart from this, the police have arrested other people from their hostels, PGs and private residences, from whom ganja and nine mobile phones have been recovered.
The police are still investigating the matter in detail. Through this investigation, efforts are being made to find out whether the accused were selling and consuming synthetic drugs. The local court has sent the accused to police custody for two days.
