Kishtwar, October 23, 2020: District level Centre For Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra(MSK) Kishtwar, on the direction of Project Officer, ICDS, Pawan Parihar, today organised an awareness programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat here at AWC Bagwan Mohalla A.

The Programme was attended by AWWs, Anganwadi Helpers, Students, besides other participants.

On the Occasion, the MSK team informed that the Nasha Mukta Bharat is an existing scheme for drug de-addiction, which has been converged into the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction under the combined efforts of the central, state/UT Governments and its objective is to create awareness generation, focus on higher educational institutions, university campuses and schools, community outreach and identification of dependent populations, focus on treatment facilities in hospital settings and capacity building for the service providers.

They also sensitised the participants about the drug abuse its effects on society and its remedial measures, which include assessment of the extent of the problem, preventive action, treatment and rehabilitation of addicts.

The team members explained that how Economic hardship caused by the pandemic may push people into making drugs for a living and how current Pandemic could lead to an increase in the number of people resorting to illicit activities. So it is the need of the hour is to have a collective approach to get rid of the drug menace.
