Bhopal, 30th December 2021: Chhattisgarh’s Raipur Police arrested Kalicharan Maharaj from Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh for his alleged provocative speech in ‘Dharma Sansad’ against Mahatma Gandhi. A case is registered against him at Tikrapara police station in Raipur.

Earlier he was said to be absconding. Since then the police have been looking for him.

Raipur SP Prashant Agarwal said “Raipur Police had received information that they were in a hotel in Khajuraho. He had switched off all his mobiles. Police reached the hotel at 4 am and arrested them. Now Kalicharan Maharaj is being brought to Raipur by road. The police can reach Raipur by 5 pm, after which he will be produced in the court.”

Several cases were registered against Kalicharan Maharaj in many parts of the country including Raipur for making indecent remarks on Mahatma Gandhi. It was only last evening that news came that Kalicharan Maharaj had fled from Raipur. After which the Raipur Police started their search in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

In the ‘Dharam Sansad’ held in Raipur, Kalicharan Maharaj had said abusive words about Mahatma Gandhi.

Cases were registered against Kalicharan Maharaj under section 505(2) and section 294 in Raipur. The former mayor of Raipur and the current chairman Pramod Dubey had lodged an FIR against him.
