JAMMU, JULY 29, 2020: Urban Forestry Division (UFD) Jammu, today conducted a plantation drive here at Government Women College Gandhi Nagar Jammu, as part of Greening Jammu Mission.

Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests J&K, Dr. Mohit Gera, started the drive by planting Chinar sapling in the premises of Government Women College Gandhi Nagar, in presence of the Principal of the College, Prof.(Dr.) Sangita Nagari; IFS (Addnl. PCCF) CCF CAMPA, Sarvesh Rai; (Addnl. PCCF) CCF Central, T Rabi Kumar; CCF Jammu, K Ramesh Kumar; CF East Circle Jammu, Simuel Chankgjia; DFO Jammu, Alok Mourya; DFO Urban Forestry Jammu, Sunil Singh and Range Officer Sunjwan, Rakesh Verma.

The plantation drive was conducted as part of the Greening Jammu mission. Dr. Mohit Gera, said that Van Mahotsav week is in progress since 27th of July all over Jammu Province which will last till July 31. He during the Van Mahotsav Week all the divisions of Jammu province will undertake plantation drives in their respective jurisdiction as part of Greening Jammu Drive.

“Efforts are made to involve as much institutions as possible, while keeping in view the Covid -19 Pandemic, social distancing shall be maintained while undergoing the plantation drive,” he advised.

The Principal Govt Women College Gandhi Nagar appreciated the efforts of J&K Forest Department for conducting the plantation drives. She said that Government Women College Gandhi Nagar is always ready to undertake such an event to make the city of temples a green and clean city in the coming days.

Sarvesh Rai, CCF CAMPA; T Rabi Kumar (Addnl. PCCF) CCF Central; K. Ramesh Kumar, CCF Jammu; Simuel Chankgjia, CF East Circle Jammu; Alok Mourya, DFO Jammu and Sunil Singh DFO Urban Forestry Jammu also planted saplings in the college premises.

Another plantation drive was held at Maharishi Vidya Mandir Sr. Secondary School Sainik Colony where 200 shade bearing and ornamental plants were planted. The drive was started by Rakesh Verma Range Officer Sunjwan by planting saplings in the premises of school. Reeta Sharma, the Principal also planted a number of plants in the school premises.

The staff members also participated in the drive and planted number saplings in the school premises.
