New Delhi, February 16, 2021: The National Highway Authority of India has made very serious allegations against the farmers who are protesting against the Agricultural Law. Not only this, NHAI has demanded the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh to evacuate the farmers who are protesting in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh border Ghazipur.

The NHAI has accused the farmers who are protesting against the agricultural law that they are using stolen electricity to run heaters and washing machines as well as damaging the roads at various places. Along with this, the people have planned to install AC in the coming days. Not only this, but the people are also watching TV day and night, due to their protests, work on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, which has been under construction for a long time, is also unable to be done and roads are also being severely damaged.

The Highways Authority says that since 16 December 2020 on its behalf, several letters have been sent to the concerned departments of the UP government and demanded the evacuation of the highway. Authority says that if the agitators do not move, then it will be difficult to complete the big project in a time-bound manner.

Mudit Garg, the project director of the Delhi Meerut Expressway said, “We have been continuously writing to the authorities to vacate the illegal occupation of the expressway for the last two months.” Electricity is being stolen from streetlights fitted to the expressway. Apart from this, the road has also been damaged. We have demanded the road to be vacated many times, but no result has been achieved.

A letter has been written on behalf of Mudit Garg to the District Magistrate of Ghaziabad, Chief Secretary of UP, and Regional Office of NHAI. In this, he stated that farmers are illegally using the electricity of street lights on expressways here for points like washing machines, heaters, tent lights, mobile charging. Power is being used illegally by the farmers.

The National Highway Authority of India has demanded the removal of the farmers sitting on the protest from CM Yogi Adityanath. The authority has demanded the UP government to vacate the road. For this, NHAI has also reminded the Yogi Adityanath government of the State Support Agreement. Under this, it is decided that no government or private institution or people will disrupt the highway project.
