KISHTWAR JUNE 24, 2020: In order to ensure the smooth and successful observance of the upcoming 15 day long “Kissan Pakwara” which is going to start from July 7, 2020, District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness made by various departments.

DDC took stock of the preparedness made by Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fishery and Sericulture departments ahead of the Kissan Pakhwara.

DDC reviewed the progress made by these departments for previous year on the implementation of various pro farmers’ schemes being undertaken by these departments in the district.

On the issue of cent percent saturation of farmers in the various schemes under Agriculture, Dairy and Fisheries sectors, the DDC asked the departmental heads, field functionaries as well as the Bankers to reach out to farmers without any delayto ensure enrolment as eligible beneficiaries of KCC.

Furthermore, he stressed upon the Bankers to remove all the bottlenecks in the sanctioning of loans to deserving farmers. He asked them to increase the credit to primary sector by 2.5 times this year as desired by the Government of J&K UT, wherein a substantial chunk of applicants should be approved and disbursed the same before or during the Kissan Pakhwara.

He directed the bank heads to ensure credit insurance and loans disbursal to the applicant farmers at the earliest and submit the report of the same in his office regularly and periodically for better accountability.

In order to raise the massive awareness about various schemes, recent technological upgradations, new seeds and technologies of cultivation, he directed the concerned District Officers to mobilise the field staff to the destination areas and initiate the awareness camps there before the Kissan Pakhwara.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Mohd Hanief Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr Amir Hussain, Joint Director Planning Mohd Iqbal, SDM Chhatroo and Paddar among others.
