A state-of-the-art Headquarters Office Complex Building for the Coast Guard Commander, Eastern Seaboard was inaugurated by Additional Director General VS Pathania, PTM, TM on 21 Jun 21. The Headquarters is built to Griha -3 rating, fully equipped with fire safety and NBC norms. The design of the building incorporates norms that ensured sustainable site planning and green initiative with a focus on conservation of water through rainwater harvesting and re-usage of water through Sewage Treatment Plant. The contract has been executed through CPWD and has completed the project within two years even amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. Visakhapatnam district is categorized in Seismic Zone-II and the building has been constructed to comply with Seismic Zone-II regulations. The pre-cast technology combined with RCC frame and brickwork has enabled faster construction.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commander highlighted that the true strength of the Organisation is reflected through its infrastructure and the building with modern digitally equipped optic fiber connectivity will ensure faster communication between the Regional & Seaboard Headquarters and reduce paper consumption. He added that the landmark setup is destined to be the epicenter of operational activity on the Eastern Seaboard in the near future.

Headquarters, Coast Guard Eastern Seaboard, with jurisdiction extending from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu coast including UT of Puducherry was established at Visakhapatnam on 08 May 2017 to ensure smooth coordinated administration and conduct of operations on the entire East Coast.
