Patna, 11th May 2021: The sleuths from the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police have busted a gang involved in black marketing of oxygen cylinders.
Acting on a tip-off from an NRI based in the USA, the EOU has arrested nine persons.
ADG (EOU) Nayyar Hasnain Khan said, “The NRI mentioned that his relatives were Covid positive patients and they were in need of Oxygen cylinder at home. Harsh Raj sold one cylinder of Oxygen for Rs 1.1 lakh. The money was electronically deposited in his account.”
The EOU team headed by DSP Bhaskar Ranjan and DSP Rajneesh Kumar nabbed the fraudster in the Rajeev Nagar Police Station area on Monday after laying a successful trap.
“The bank statement of Harsh Raj shows that approx Rs nine lakhs were deposited in his account within six days. An FIR has been registered against the accused persons at Rajiv Nagar Police Station Patna,” said Khan.
Police have seized two jumbo gas-filled cylinder, one Maruti Swift Dezire, two motorcycles, one E Rickshaw from the accused persons.
The arrested persons are Harsh Raj (25), Gauri Shankar (19), both residents of Rajiv Nagar in Patna, Ravi Kumar (19) of Gokul Path Patel Nagar and Rahul Kumar (21) of Shastri Nagar in Patna, Sanjay Kumar (23) of Jehanabad district, Sibu Kumar (31) and Prem Raj (23) of Patrakarnagar in Patna,  Chandan Kumar (32) of Mokama, Sanjeev Kumar (35) of Aurangabad.
