Patna, 12th May 2021: Due to the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic complaints have been received regarding the black marketing and illegal storage of Medical oxygen, Remdesivir and other essential life-saving medicines. Bihar Police is taking action against black marketing and illegal storage in the state.

Nayyar Hasnain Khan, ADG, EOU said, “Ten members special team has been formed under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl SP) of EOU to take action against private ambulance operators working in the private hospital who are charging arbitrary money above the government norms. A special team has been formed under the leadership of the Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police to take action against complaints of illegal collection of money in excess of the norms set by the government in Corona for treatment by private hospitals.”

“In order to effectively curb black marketing, illegal storage and illegal collection in excess of the prescribed norms, one control room with 24X7 working in the Economic Offences Unit has been set up with telephone numbers 0612-2215142 and 8544428427. Every day 80 to 100 different types of information are being received in this control room, on which necessary action is being taken by the EOU and District Police,” he said.

EOU is taking action on black marketing and illegal storage in the state. Recently, five cases have been registered in the district and 14 accused have been arrested. In this action, 12 filled oxygen cylinders (50 litres each), one empty oxygen cylinders, 42 pieces of oxygen cylinder regulator and five Remdesivir injections have been recovered.

Effective action is being taken by the district police against illegal storage and black marketing. In this context, 10 cases have been registered by various district police so far, 283 raids have been conducted and 17 accused have been arrested. In this action, 346 oxygen cylinders have been recovered.

In the second wave of this global pandemic, there have also come to light a lot of cases of cybercriminals cheating money from common people in the name of providing Remdesivir injection and oxygen cylinders. To deal with this, an eight member special cyber team was formed under the leadership of the Additional Superintendent of Police of EOU. In the course of research by the team, it was found that most such cybercriminals are based in Nalanda, Nawada and Sheikhpura. While running a special operation, five such cybercriminals have been arrested from the Nalanda district and seven from Nawada. Two cybercriminals have been arrested in a joint operation of EOU and Delhi Cyber Cell.
