Arrah, 14 Jun 2021: The Bhojpur district court today sentenced 10 accused including the infamous Khurshid Qureshi to death in the 2018 murder of Imran Khan, a famous bag trader of Arrah city. A total fine of rupees 2 lakh 60 thousand has also been imposed on them.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ- 9) Manoj Kumar pronounced the hearing through video conferencing. Khurshid’s brother, Abdulla is also one of the convicts.

On courts order, all accused were sent to jail after being found guilty of murder, criminal conspiracy, carrying weapons and extortion. In this matter, APP Nagendra Prasad Singh had argued on behalf of the prosecution.

On 6 Dec 2018, the bag trader Imran Khan, the resident of Doodh Katora of Arrah city, was killed in the morning at Shobha Market at Dharman Chowk in Arrah. Imran’s brother Akeel Ahmad and a BSNL employee had also been injured in the shooting.

An FIR was registered against Khurshid Qureshi and his brothers along with others on the statement of Akeel Ahmad. In the FIR, it said that he was asked for Rs 10 lakh extortion. When he denied it, the convicts shot him in which Imran lost his life, while his brother Akeel Ahmad and an employee were injured.

After hearing both sides, Judge Manoj Kumar convicted Khurshid Qureshi and his brother Abdulla Qureshi, Najeer Ganj’s resident Raju Khan, Raja street’s resident Anwar Qureshi, Milky Street’s Ahmad Mia, Khetadi Street’s Babli Mia, Tausif Aalam and Futchan aka Fukien Mia, Roja’s resident Guddu Mia and Abarpul street’s Shamsher Mia under IPC Section 387/34, 302/34,307/34, 120 (B) and Arms Act. All convicts have been sentenced to death.
