Kerala: State Bank of India Chief Manager Sentenced Two Years Imprisonment In Bribery Case

Ernakulam, 23rd June 2021: The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ernakulam has sentenced Vikas Gumber, Chief Manager, State Bank of India (SBI), Inspection Department, Bengaluru to undergo two years simple imprisonment with a total fine of Rs two lakh in a bribery case.

CBI had registered the case on 28.07.2012 against Shri Vikas Gumber, Chief Manager, SBI Inspection Department, Bangaluru on a complaint. It was alleged that the accused demanded an amount of Rs 50,000 from the complainant as a motive for awarding a higher grade to SBI, ADB, Chalakudy, in the Internal Audit Wing, which was conducted by the accused. The complainant also alleged that the accused demanded Rs 40,000 from the Dy. Manager of the same branch for the said purpose. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant on 29.07.12.

After investigation, chargesheet was filed before the Court of Special Judge -II, CBI, Ernakulam on 19.04.2013 against the accused.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
