Haridwar, 12th April 2021: Today is the second day of the holy bath of Kumbh in Haridwar amidst the Corona crisis. Akharas have completed their preparations for the holy bath. But before the Shahi Snan, crowds gathered at his feet. The common people arrived to take a dip in the Ganga before the royal bath. During this time, people are flouting the Covid-19 rules and a rush of devotees on all sides can be seen.

Kumbh Mela IG Sanjay Gunjyal said that we are constantly urging people to follow the Covid rules but this is practically impossible due to the huge crowd. IG says that in view of the huge crowd, it is impossible to follow the rules like social distance at the ghat here. We are continuously appealing to people to follow COVID guidelines. But due to the huge crowd, it is practically not possible to issue challans today. It is very difficult to ensure social distancing at ghats.

The Kumbh Mela Police has given some relief to the devotees to take a bath for the convenience of the devotees. Devotees will be able to bathe at Har ki Pauri till seven in the morning. After this, the common devotees will not be able to visit the Har ki Pauri area and the area will be reserved for bathing the saints of the akhadas.
