New Delhi/Ahmedabad, 1st June 2021: Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and controversies go hand in hand these days. After Indian Medical Association (IMA), members of the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) are fed up with his remarks against allopathy. Annoyed by Ramdev’s comment on allopathy, FORDA members will observe Black Day across the country today, ie on 1st June. However, FORDA has said that its decision will not harm patients.

Ramdev had questioned some of the drugs being used to treat Covid-19 infection and was heard saying that lakhs of people have died due to taking allopathic medicines for COVID-19.

At first, the Indian Medical Association vehemently opposed his statements. Later, a police complaint was also filed against him. Today as a manifestation, all the doctors, nurses and other health workers posted in the corona duty will work with a black band on their PPE kit. Along with this, they also intend to darken the profile picture of their social media handle.

A few days back, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan had also asked Ramdev to withdraw his “extremely unfortunate” statement. After the minister’s strong remarks, Ramdev had withdrawn his statement.

However, the Yoga guru did not stop here. The next day he made a tweet and asked the Indian Medical Association 25 questions. In the letter, he asked about permanent diagnoses of diseases through allopathy.

Prominent organizations representing doctors in Gujarat approached the Ahmedabad police on Monday, demanding registration of an FIR against Ramdev for allegedly making derogatory remarks against the modern system of medicine and its doctors.

Senior doctors and office bearers of the Gujarat unit of the Indian Medical Association and Ahmedabad Medical Association made separate applications to Navrangpura police station and demanded action against Ramdev. Both the organizations appealed to the police to register an FIR against Ramdev under relevant sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act and the Disaster Management Act.
