Amritsar, 10th July 2021- Research on corona is going on around the world. The Corona vaccine is also an important part of this research. One such research is going on in the Government Medical College, Amritsar, where preparations are being made to make Virus Like Particles (VLP).
VLP is a synthetic virus capable of fighting corona, but it does not contain genetic material. It is not able to harm the person and after entering the body activates the immune system.
The coronavirus contains genetic material called deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA). Not only corona, but any virus is incomplete without genetic material. If this material is not in the virus, then it cannot harm humans. Preparations are being made to conduct research on VPL in the Viral Disease Research Lab located at Amritsar Medical College. Approval has been sought from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for this. The lab professors have prepared the entire structure and sent it to ICMR.
How to make antibodies?
The structure and size of VLPs to be prepared in medical colleges will be similar to that of coronavirus. As soon as they are sent to the human body through the vaccine, then the body’s immunity will realize that the coronavirus has been attacked. Responding to this, the immune system will be activated and the body will start fighting the VLPs.
VLP will not contain genetic material like DNA and RNA, so it will not have any side effects on the human body, but a large number of antibodies will be prepared to fight this virus. If the actual coronavirus strikes humans in the future, then the immunity developed in the past will be able to eliminate it. It can also be said that the antibody will be ready, which will protect against this virus for years.
Clinical trial will be held in Delhi
Many vaccines are being prepared around the world from VLPs that look like the coronavirus. Many vaccines have also passed in clinical trials. Covishield and Covaccine are also based on this principle. By applying a booster dose in the form of VLP, immunity is developed in the body. Clinical trials of VLPs to be made in Amritsar will be held in Delhi. Only ICMR will get them done.
