Chandigarh, March 15, 2021: New strains of coronavirus have been found in Jalandhar, Nawashahar, and Shahpur in Punjab. Along with this, a night curfew has been imposed in 8 districts. Night curfew has also been imposed in Mohali, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana. Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that he would visit Nawashahar, Jalandhar, and Shahpur on Tuesday to review the situation.

The Health Minister said, “New strains have been found in Jalandhar, Nawashahar, and Shahpur. I will go to these places tomorrow and review the situation. Night curfew has been imposed in at least 8 districts including Mohali, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana.”

Significantly, in the second wave of coronavirus, the states where cases are increasing rapidly include Punjab. After 26,291 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the country, the number of infected people in the country increased to 1,13,85,339. As per the data, the country saw the highest number of new cases in one day after 85 days. Earlier, on December 20, 26,624 new cases were reported in 24 hours.
