Delhi, 11th August 2021: The US space agency NASA has expressed its apprehension about the devastation in India due to the rise in the temperature of the world. Its report gives us a picture of what will happen to India after 80 years i.e. in 2100.

It says that 12 coastal cities of India are going to be submerged in water up to three feet because of rising water levels. This will happen due to the melting of the ice frozen at the poles, owing to the ever-increasing heat.

It will affect India’s Okha, Mormugao, Kandla, Bhavnagar, Mumbai, Mangalore, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Tuticorin, Kochi, Paradip and Kidropore coastal areas of West Bengal. In such a situation, people living in these areas may need to leave this place in future.

NASA has created a water level projection tool. This will help in evacuating people in time and making necessary arrangements from the disaster on the beaches. Through this online tool, anyone is going to be ready to know the longer-term disaster i.e. rising sea level.

As communities across the planet prepare themselves against the impacts of water level rise, a replacement visualization tool provided by NASA gives users the power to ascertain what sea levels will look like anywhere for decades to come.

NASA has warned of the drowning of many cities, citing the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on global climate change (IPCC). This is the sixth assessment report of the IPCC. It was released on 9 August. This report gives a far better view of the climate system and global climate change.

The IPCC has been assessing global climate change globally since 1988. This panel reports the state of the environment around the world every 5 to 7 years. This time the report is pointing to a really dire situation.

The report says that by the year 2100, the temperature of the planet will increase significantly. People will need to bear the terrible heat. If carbon emissions and pollution aren’t stopped, the temperature will increase by a mean of 4.4 °C. In the next two decades, if the temperature of mercury also rises this fast then, the glaciers will also melt. Their water will bring destruction to the plains and sea areas.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said that the Ocean Level Projection Tool is enough to inform leaders and scientists around the world that by the next century many of our countries will lose land. The sea level will rise so fast that it’ll be difficult to handle. Examples of this are ahead of everyone. Many islands have sunk. Many other islands are going to be swallowed up by the ocean.
