New Delhi, 4th October 2022: Railways has made a new timetable, under which the speed of 500 trains has been increased. The railways has removed 65 pairs i.e. 130 trains from normal class and given them a superfast status.
The speed of these trains has been increased from 10 to 70 minutes. This means that the time taken by these trains to reach their destination is 10 to 70 minutes less than before. This new time table of Railways has come into force from 1st October.
According to railways, the speed of these trains has been increased by an average of five percent. This will give some space to run more trains. Railways has also improved its time table and the record of arriving trains on time in the last one year. This has been possible due to the expansion of tracks and enhancement of other facilities during the Corona period.
According to the Railways, in the current financial year, 84 percent trains have completed their journey on time. Earlier in 2019-20, this figure was only 75 percent.
Indian Railways operates 3,240 mail and express trains. These include Gatimaan Express, Vande Bharat Express, Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express and Duronto Express.
