Ahmedabad, 5th August 2022: A shocking case of honeytrap came to light in Ahmedabad (Gujarat) when a young man became friends with a woman on a dating app. The two later started talking on the phone.

After a few days, the man got a call from the woman saying she would like to meet him as her husband would be out of town. The young man reached the woman’s house where the two engaged in sex in the bedroom. However, soon after, two men rushed in and demanded Rs.5 lakh threatening the man with implicating a rape case. The man initially gave them Rs.2.70 lakh. But after demanding more, the man decided to lodge a complaint with the Chandkheda police.

The 30-year-old victim, who runs a shop in Asarwa (Ahmedabad), is a resident of the Ambawadi area. A few days ago, he became friends with a woman named Kavita on the Quack Quack App. Later, both of them started talking on Instagram and WhatsApp as well. A few days ago, Kavita sent him the location of her house and called the young man to meet her. The young man went to her house and returned after having coffee. A few days later, Kavita stated that her husband would be going to Surat, urging to meet the man as she would be alone.

The young man agreed and went to meet her at her home where the two engaged in conversation for some time. Later, the woman, who called herself Kavita, closed the door and took the young man to the bedroom where they engaged in intercourse. Suddenly, two men rushed there and started beating the man, threatening him with a rape case. Then a third person, Ramesh, entered the scene, calling himself a lawyer. He took the man’s mobile phone and asked him to transfer Rs.5 lakh.

When the man claimed he did not have that amount, he was asked to pay Rs. 70 thousand initially, and was demanded the remaining amount in installments. The victim did as he was asked and eventually paid up to Rs. 2.70 lakh. The victim then went to the police and complained. Police have started further investigation by registering a case.
