Tripura, 6th April 2021: Following the Tripura High Court’s rebuke, the state government on Wednesday transferred Shailesh Kumar Yadav, a former district officer who forcibly stopped a marriage ceremony while enforcing the Covid-19 protocol. He has been removed from the post of DM of Western Tripura and posted at Belonia, the headquarters of Southern Tripura.

He is currently on a 12-day leave. He has been shifted to Belonia in southern Tripura. However, at present no post has been assigned to Yadav. Indeed, Yadav had stopped a wedding ceremony on the night of April 26. During this time, he was accused of abusing the guests present on the spot and the priest.

He also forced the bride and grooms to vacate the venue. His video went viral on social media. Immediately after the incident, the Chief Minister asked the Chief Secretary to submit a report on the incident and a committee of two IAS officers was constituted to investigate the matter.

Initially, though Yadav had apologized, he told the committee that he had enforced law and order as per his duty to stop the spread of coronavirus.
