New Delhi, 28th May 2021: After Baba Ramdev’s remark against the allopathy practice of medicine, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) had gone on the offensive against him. He was asked to retract his statement after the Union Health Minister’s intervention into the issue.

Even so, the IMA on Wednesday sent a six-page defamation notice to Ramdev for the allegedly insulting remarks on allopathy and allopathy doctors, demanded his apology within 15 days. The IMA has also said that it will seek compensation of Rs 1,000 crore as compensation from him if he did not retract the statement.

Patanjali Yogpeeth confirmed on Thursday that it has received a defamation notice from the IMA seeking an apology from yoga guru Ramdev for his comments on allopathy. The Yogpeeth said that it would give a proper answer legally.

Acharya Balakrishna, General Secretary of Patanjali Yogpeeth, confirmed this and said, ‘We will give them the same legal answer as we do whenever something comes in the way we serve our great motherland and humanity.”

The Haridwar-based Patanjali Yogpeeth also said that Patanjali conducts all its activities keeping in view the scientific and truthfulness and he cannot allow anyone to neglect, disrespect and insult the great knowledge of sages and scriptures and science.

A notice has been sent by IMA (Uttarakhand) secretary Ajay Khanna for tarnishing the image of allopathy and its doctors. The IMA has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to immediately register a case against the yoga guru on charges of treason for challenging government protocol for vaccination and treatment of Covid-19.
