Bengaluru, 7th October 2022: Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is in Karnataka, and now party President Sonia Gandhi has also joined it. Sonia Gandhi joined this yatra in the Mandya district of Karnataka on Thursday. During this, a good bonding was seen between Rahul Gandhi and Sonia. From tying the laces of the mother’s shoes, on many occasions, attempts were made to create a caring image of Rahul Gandhi. However, it is believed that the main focus of the Congress’ journey in Karnataka is on the 60 seats where there is a significant population of people of the Vokkaliga community.
This community has a sizable population in Mandya and its surrounding six districts. Apart from Congress, JDS and BJP have also been claiming the Vokkaliga voters. Meanwhile, Congress state president DK Shivakumar and his brother once again received ED notices, and the atmosphere heated up. On Thursday morning, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi reached Mandya by helicopter. During this, Sonia Gandhi was seen walking for about two kilometres even in ill health. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi was seen taking care of her. After staying for some distance, Sonia Gandhi left and Rahul Gandhi went ahead with the journey.
Enthusiasm is being seen in the Congress in Karnataka due to this entire journey. Congressmen feel that the way people are reaching the Yatra on a large scale, the chances of the party have increased. Party’s state president DK Shivakumar said, ‘’After Vijayadashami, there will be victory in Karnataka. We are proud that Sonia Gandhi came here and took part in the yatra and travelled the streets of Karnataka. We are coming back to power in Karnataka and BJP’s shop will be closed.” The Congress’s journey in Karnataka is going to pass through Chamarajanagar, Mysore, Mandya, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Raichur, and Bellary.
Vokkaliga community has a sizable population in all these districts. There are a total of 60 assembly seats here, on which the Congress is focusing. BJP has a good reach among Lingayats. In such a situation, Congress wants to bring Vokkaliga to its court. Congress is preparing in full force; it can also be understood from the fact that Priyanka Gandhi is also going to join the yatra. This area is also important for DK Shivakumar. His supporters believe that if there is a good victory from here, DK Shivakumar’s claim for the post of CM will be strengthened.
