Chennai, 10th November 2021: Incessant rain in many areas of Tamil Nadu has disturbed normal life. 260 houses have been destroyed in Chennai itself. 160 relief and rescue camps have been set up to keep people safe.

The capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai has a flood-like situation that has arisen due to the submergence of many areas because of heavy rains. From the roads to the houses, water is filled everywhere. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in Chennai for the next 2 days. In view of the alert of the Meteorological Department, schools and colleges will remain closed in many districts of Tamil Nadu today and tomorrow.

According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over West Central Bay of Bengal near South Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu coast. Under the influence of which a low-pressure area is expected to develop, which will move in a northwest direction towards the Tamil Nadu coast. Due to cyclonic pressure from the Bay of Bengal to the Tamil Nadu sea, the weather activities are changing. The effect of which is also visible in Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.

Due to the rains in Chennai for the last two days, the situation has worsened so much that many parts of the city have gone under-water. Traffic is also affected in Chennai due to waterlogging on roads due to heavy rains. The authorities have issued a flood warning in many areas of Chennai like Sirukalathur, Kavanur, Kundrathur, Thiruvamudivakkam, Thiruniramalai. The Fire and Rescue Department along with the employees of the Public Works Department has already deployed several teams to drain the water in all the rain-affected areas. Also, NDRF teams have been kept on standby. The state revenue department is monitoring the water situation.
