Bhopal, 21  April 2021: The state government is making every effort to prevent Covid infection in the state and to provide better treatment to Covid-19 infected patients. Under this, in order to overcome the shortage of oxygen, arrangements are being made for the establishment of air separation unit and supply of oxygen, along with the establishment of new oxygen plants in the district hospitals of almost all the districts of the state.

Out of the 8 oxygen plants approved by the Government of India for the state, four oxygen plants have started in Khandwa, Ujjain, Shivpuri and Seoni districts. Two plants will start in Mandsaur and Jabalpur in the next 2 days and in Ratlam, Morena district in the next one week.

Air Separation Unit for 37 districts

Apart from this, the state government has issued orders for the establishment of air separation unit for the availability of oxygen in the district hospitals of 13 districts of the state. These districts include Katni, Betul, Barwani, Narsinghpur, Khargone, Balaghat, Bhopal (Katju Hospital), Raisen, Satna, Guna, Sagar, Sehore and Vidisha. Approval has also been given by the state government to set up air separation units in the district hospitals of 24 other districts Dewas, Dhar, Mandla, Hoshangabad, Panna, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Sidhi, Bhind, Umaria, Neemuch, Jhabua, Singrauli, Tikamgarh, Ashoknagar, Burhanpur, Anuppur, Agar-Malwa, Sheopur, Shajapur, Dindori, Alirajpur, Niwari (CHC) and Harda respectively.

ASU of new technology in five districts

Apart from this, approval has also been given to establish air separation unit using new C.S.I.R. technology in the district hospitals of five districts, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Rewa and Shahdol respectively.

Oxygen concentrator unit also available

The state government has made 2000 oxygen concentrator units available at the district level in hospitals. The use of these units is being ensured in the treatment of Covid-19 infected persons. Apart from this, 150 oxygen concentrator units have been made available for use in Covid Care Centres in Bhopal district. At present, efforts are being made to provide 800 more oxygen concentrator units in the state. Also, the state government has today issued orders for the purchase of 2500 oxygen concentrator units of 10 liters per minute capacity.
