Mogadishu (Somalia), 20th August 2022: The security forces have succeeded in the ongoing operation against terrorists in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu. According to reports, Hotel Hyatt has been freed from the possession of terrorists. Around 15 people died during this period. Al-Shabaab, an affiliate of Al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Currently, the hotel is being searched for explosives. The people held hostage have also been freed. According to reports, al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab attacked Hotel Hyatt in Mogadishu.
The terrorists had carried out two car blasts before firing.
According to news agency ANI, a police officer said, “Hotel Hyatt was targeted by two car bombs. One took place near the hotel barrier and after that, an explosion took place at the hotel gate. We believe the fighters are inside the hotel.”
Hyatt is one of the popular areas of Mogadishu. Many hotels are present here, where government officials and citizens frequently visit.
