30 percent reservation for women lawyers in appointments
CM Shri Chouhan’s announcment on International Women’s Day

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that a Mukhya Mantri Mahila Kosh will be established to strengthen women. The cell will be used for women empowerment activities. He announced to give 30 percent reservation to women lawyers in the appointment of Government lawyers in High Court and district courts. He was addressing a Mahila Sammelan organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
CM Shri Chouhan said that social security pension will be given to widows and grass widows over 50. Private buildings will be taken on rent to run hostels for working women in big cities. Adequate measures will be taken to provide security and facilities to women in these hostels.
Shri Chouhan told that the work of manufacturing and supply of take home ration to be distributed in anganwadis of the state will be taken care of by women self-help group federation. Also, the uniforms to be distributed in government schools will also be stitched by the women self-help groups. Loan guarantee to federations of skillful women self help groups will be given by the government. He said that women labourers will be given Rs 4,000 every month from their 6th month of pregnancy till childbirth and Rs 12,000 after delivery.
The Chief Minister said that rapists will be given death penalty for which a law has been formed and sent for President’s approval. He said that the society will also have to take a stand for protection of girls. Mentality of people will have to be changed. Boys too should be given lessons on culture so that they learn to respect girls and women.
CM Shri Chouhan said that maximum opportunities would have to be given to promote women power so that the society and the world can move ahead. He appealed to women to move ahead and contribute in development of Madhya Pradesh also to develop. He said that every day should be considered a day for women. There is need to work in this direction more than simply following a ritual by organizing programme in their honour on just one day.
The Chief Minister felicitated women for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields. Women were awarded with Lado Samman, Sex Ratio Improvement Award, Tejaswini Award, Sashakt Wahini Award besides those women above 60 were also awarded who are working tirelessly in their respective fields.
The Chief Minister honoured Assistant Loco Pilot of West Central Railway Sushri Arti Singh Rajput, Sushri Priti Verma and Sushri Deepa Jharwade. He awarded Sushri Puran Jyoti, Sushri Ishita Vishwakarma, Shri Raghavendra Sharma and Sushri Anita Vishwakarma with Lado Samman. Sushri Saurabh Singh was awarded for working towards improving sex ratio in Burhanpur district. Tejaswini award was given to Sushri Vinita Namdeo, Smt. Rekha Panjam, Sushri Indrani Varkade and Sushri Shanti Tekam. Sashakt Wahini award was give Burhanpur’s Sushri Nidhi Gupta. Earlier, the Chief Minister dedicated women’s hostel “Swayamsiddha”. He also visited an exhibition based on achievements of women.
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Archana Chitnis said that International Women’s Day is a celebration of the glory of women power. She told that nearly one lakh girls have been given driving license. Now commercial license will also be initiated. She said the state is way ahead in providing security to women and for their welfare. Mobiles have been given to 12 thousand anganwadi workers. Remaining workers will also be given mobiles soon. She said that Janani Suraksha Yojana has resulted in more institutional deliveries. Number of underweight children and acute malnourished children has reduced.
Akhil Bhartiya Kirar Mahasabha National President Smt. Sadhana Singh Chouhan, Minister of State Smt. Lalita Yadav and a large number of women were present on the occasion. Women from all districts had come to take part in the Sammelan. Chairman M.P Housing Board Shri Krishna Murari Moghe and Women’s Commission Chairman Smt. Lata Wankhede was also present. Children from Bal Bhavan presented dance-drama on Beti-Bachao. Principal Secretary Shri J.N. Kansotia and Commissioner Women Empowerment Smt. Jaishree Kiyawat were also present on the occasion.
